We are only half way through the year and Scrapple has blown away all my expectations. He started the year strong in February with a NOHS Group 3 in Fresno in a very competitive herding group. In March he earned his NW1 title. In April he picked up a couple more BOBs and a Bred-By Exhibitor Group 3 in Bakersfield. Later in April he also started in Advanced Scent work earning a HIT Advanced! May/June saw us heading to the SVCA Western Regional Specialty in Lodi where we had 4 days of showing after cheering on our friends in herding. Scrapple started the shows by taking BOW for an extra credit major and finishing his CH to become my second BBE Champion! We moved him up for the Regional Specialty later that day and proceeded to take BOB for his first Grand Major and giving him the new title of BISS! He continued his streak all weekend, coming out of the ring every time with a ribbon, receiving a BBE Group 4, BOS on Saturday, and Select on Sunday to complete all three of his Grand majors. WOW WOW WOW!

So a couple months ago I finally decided to submit some Virtual Rally videos I did with Eloise earlier in the year. To my very happy surprise they both passed with qualifying scores of 77 and 90! That gave her enough runs to complete her Rally Advanced title! I was so happy when they implemented the virtual rally program and even happier when they made it permanent. It was a huge confidence booster and helped us work towards better off leash focus in a safe and familiar environment.
Rally was my first dog sport love, and I am so happy to finally have a dog with an advanced title. I received some nice comments from the judges about what a good and enthusiastic worker Eloise is which really made my day too! If you know Eloise, you most likely understand what a big deal it was getting her to focus on something as slow as heeling for this amount of time. I'm very proud of my little rocket powered princess! Now to start working on those Rally Excellent signs! CH Aros Enchanting Eloise Elbereth RA HT SWE RATO CGCA CGCU TKP NW3Elt VSVA Mr Handsome was an exceptionally good boy today and finished out his AKC Novice Scent Work title in style today with a third 4/4 trial! So technically he actually earned 5 titles all in one day! He’s a very kind boy putting up with me slowly learning to read his alerts. I’m really having to retrain myself as he’s an entirely different type of dog to trial than his mother. He’s exceptionally honest and straightforward, and I look forward to the next chapter of our NW/SW journey. I’m so proud of my silly little red dude! Good boy Scraps! He’s now (pending AKC approval) Lavendel Sunday Scrapple Special SWN TKN.
Congratulations to everyone else who competed today. There was some major SV representation this weekend! Whether or not you came home with ribbons, I’m sure every dog enjoyed a day out with their favorite person and a good sniff! Finally got a minute to post after a pretty crazy weekend. Lots of tie dyed fun at Woofstock 2022, despite the heat and the added chaos of traveling with three dogs!
Saturday: Both Scrapple and Ace showed nicely with Ace receiving a point for BOW. She was a little reserved with the bustle of a big show but perked up on her second go around in the ring. Reserve WD for Scrapple. Sunday: Ace received WB and was much more comfortable on the second day. Big day for Scrapple though! He showed like an absolute rock star and received BOB for his first major! I'm absolutely thrilled and am so excited that he's started coming into his own as a show dog. He's matured immensely in the last couple months and I think he will only continue to get better with age. We got lots of compliments from folks and he put in a nice showing in the group ring. Can't wait to see where we go together! Thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend and helped shuffle dogs, including Michelle Ficken, Krystal Dymke, Polly Ficken, Cyndy Later (cheering us on from Idaho), Ivy Underdahl (cheering from Atascadero), and Marv and Doris K. Quick, and Mona Nakashima. Looking forward to seeing you all there again next year! We did it! NW3 Elite!!! I am so over the moon and unbelievably proud of this girl. This is a huge accomplishment for us and something we have been working on since 2017 when we earned her NW2 and trialing at the NW3 level since 2019. I have been working to personally earn an NW3 with a dog since 2015. Eloise is only the 4th Swedish Vallhund to ever earn this title and I’m the 3rd SV handler to earn it.
Eloise is an amazing dog to work with in Nose Work and she makes us both look good. Her drive and confidence never fails to amaze me. She’s made me a better handler and I’m so happy to have her as my partner. Thank you to everyone who has helped me on this journey. Thank you to our trainers Darcy Larkin, Teah Anders, Betty Scattini, and Ivy Underdahl for your skilled and thoughtful training all these years. Of course huge thanks to Ingrid Nilsson Low and Ivy Dan Underdahl for trusting me with this amazing little grey dog. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged and cheered for us along the way, as well as those who have held and worked all the trials over the years. You are all such an important part of our story and we couldn’t have done it without your support. I’m looking forward to this new chapter and can’t wait to enter our first Elite trial! But first some very well deserved rest and some extra special treats for my extra special Elite Eloise! We finally did it! Eloise finally earned her NW3! She did it in style, also earning a 2nd place in containers and finishing element titles in vehicles, interiors, and exteriors. This is my first time achieving an NW3 with any dog and I’m just over the moon! Eloise is the best partner I could ever ask for. Her drive and precision never cease to amaze me. I’m honored to be on the other end of her leash. Good girl Eloise.
The Lavendel boys did me proud today!
After a long showing hiatus Griffin finally finished his Championship with a WD and BOS today! I cant thank Ivy Dan Underdahl enough for sharing this special boy with me and letting me show him. He is my first Bred By Exhibitor Champion and has really blown away all my expectations. Starting his career with BOW, Best BBE and Best Puppy in sweeps at nationals and finishing as his beautiful first litter are going to new happy homes. Good boy Griffles! Not to be totally outdone by his brother, Scrapple did his first turn in the ring in the 4-6 month puppy show and came home with a Herding Group 1! I couldn’t be more thrilled! I can’t wait to see where the little-red-singleton-who-could will take me! We are just getting started! Back at it tomorrow to brave the heat one more day. The boys have been real troupers but we are all about at our limit. Thank goodness for friends with air conditioned trailers (thank you Polly Ficken, Michelle Ficken, and Paul L Wissler !) and for ryobi battery fans. So some of you already know, but I have been waiting to post about our newest little one until things were a bit less precarious. Now that he is a week old I'd like to introduce our precious little single puppy boy! This tiny one was born last Sunday, Jan 24 via c-section and entered the world at a minuscule 4.5oz. He had a couple of rough days with some tube feeding and lots of extra care, but has finished his first week thriving at over double his birth weight! Overall he seems to be doing well and growing quickly, so we can hope that his small birth size was not the result of other issues. Momma Eloise is also doing well and seems to be totally smitten with her new charge. We are cautiously optimistic and take joy in each new day that he thrives.
This cutie will be staying here with us and is already working to help heal our hearts. His name is still being work shopped but will follow soon. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this special little boy! Dam: CH Aros Enchanting Eloise Elbereth RN HT SWA RATO CGCA CGCU TKP NW2 Sire: Price's Roscoe Svensk Viking (owned by John & Amy Harper) We had the pleasure of attending our first SVCA National Specialty, and boy what a week it was! The specialty was held in Prescott/Dewey, AZ and we spent 6 days enjoying all things Vallhund. Our little boy Griffin blew us all away by taking home some top awards! Here is the run down: Lavendel Skyward Griffin Av Solborg "Griffin" - Best Puppy in SVCA National Specialty Sweepstakes - Best of Winners in SVCA National Specialty from Bred-By class (5 point major) - Best Bred-By-Exhibitor at SVCA National Specialty - Best Puppy in SVCA Regional Specialty Sweepstakes - Best of Winners at SVCA Supported entry from Bred-By class (5 point major) - Reserve Winner's Dog on Saturday at all breed show He also showed amazing instinct and potential during a Swedish style herding instinct test on dairy cows with Jenny Pleym. Thank you Ivy Underdahl for mentoring me and allowing me to show this special boy. I am over the moon with how our Griffy is turning out! Can't wait to see where the first Lavendel boy takes us! Griffin did a great job at his first AKC sanctioned "B" match put on by the Santa Maria Kennel Club. He showed like a little champ and came away with a group 3 in the herding group! Way to go Griff! We are on our way to the big time now. SVCA National Specialty, here we come!
